We spend most of our days hauling junk, clearing out properties, and dropping dumpsters across Greensboro, Kernersville, and the Greater Triad Area. We love the work. But every once in a while, a day comes along that reminds us why we do it beyond the jobs themselves. October 3 at Summerfield Athletic Park was one of those days.
We brought one of our trucks out to Touch-A-Truck and honestly, we were not sure what to expect. What we got was one of the best mornings we have had as a company.
What Touch-A-Truck Is All About
For anyone who has not been, Touch-A-Truck is exactly what it sounds like. Local businesses and organizations bring their vehicles out and families get to walk through, climb up, ask questions, and get a close look at the kinds of trucks they usually only see rolling down the street. Fire trucks, dump trucks, construction equipment, and yes, junk removal trucks.
The event was put on by the Summerfield Chamber of Commerce and held at Summerfield Athletic Park. They did a great job bringing the community together and we were glad to be part of it. The crowd was fantastic and the energy from the moment we pulled in was exactly what you hope for when you show up to something like this.
What the Day Looked Like
Families came by the TCC tent throughout the morning, got an up-close look at the truck, asked questions, and got to see how everything works. We handed out TCC stickers, magnets, pens, and other goodies and genuinely loved seeing everyone stop by.
The truck horns were a crowd favorite. Kids got a kick out of climbing up and giving them a honk and honestly that energy made the whole day.
What These Moments Mean to Us
We are a local company. Greensboro, Kernersville, and the communities around them are not just our service area, they are where we live, where our families are, and where we want to build something that lasts. Events like Touch-A-Truck are a chance to step outside the day to day work and actually be present in the community we serve.
We get to show people what we do, sure. But more than that, we get to meet the families who live in the same neighborhoods we work in every day. We get to put faces to the community we talk about on every job. That matters to us more than we can really put into words.
There is something genuinely meaningful about a kid leaving an event with a TCC sticker on their shirt and some vague understanding that the big green truck is one of the good guys. We will take that every single time.
Thank You to Everyone Who Stopped By
To every family that swung by the TCC tent, said hello, grabbed some goodies, or let their kids climb up and honk the horn until we all had ringing ears, thank you. Days like October 3 are the kind that stick with you.
We are already looking forward to the next one. If you see us out in the community, come say hi. We will probably have stickers.
